Gravetti Cobra Infos wanted

Has anybody any information about the Gravetti Cobra ? I am on the way to buy one and want to know all about it. I looks very nice, JAG rear end and Ford 302 seems to be ok, but what else ? Any informations about strenghts & weaknesses out there ?

The Gravetti is not well known over here in germany.

Tks

Karl H.

RE: Gravetti Cobra Infos wanted

Hi there Karl.

I recall the name Gravetti but having searched back through a couple of older guides I have on the replicas I can't find any refernce to them. I will search through my older CRC mags and see if I can find any references there.

Regards

Nigel B

RE: Gravetti Cobra Infos wanted

Hi Karl

Gravetti produced 72 cars from 1984-87 and later became CK427, The founder was one Nigel Gravett, it was not a popular car and it did not have a good reputation. when the company was taken over by Bob Eggington it became as i say
Ck 427 and became a much improved car . these days Bob makes an Aston Martin DBR2 Replica.

That's about it.

HAPPY BLASTING

Graham

RE: Gravetti Cobra Infos wanted

Hi Steve,

finally I “decided to buy a RAM, not the Gravetti. However we do have six Gravetties in our cobra club ( www.cobra-ig.de ).
If you do have some specific pictures, just e-mail ( webmaster@cobra-ig.de )them to me and I'll pass them to the owners at the next meeting. If you are Interested in getting some specific ones, please let me know and I'll ask the buddies.

cheers
Karl

Did you ever establish for definite whether it is a Gravetti or not? A friend & myself had a deal to produce Gravetti`s as a 'franchise' 90% sewn up but the WDA let us down over premises funding. They wanted to build us a purpose built unit, have employees, and a whole host of stuff.....by the time it came to any sort of conclusion, Gravett had sold out!

Yes,mine is a GE as confirmed by the DVLA when I requested them to change the make on the V5 from "Cobra" to Gravetti, they had documents saying it was a GE427 ,they changed the V5 for me but would not let me have the documentation.

Re: Gravetti Cobra Infos wanted

Well I know Nigel Gravett, he fiddled me, and another guy out of £17,000 each .I ordered a Gravetti Cobra off him sometime in '86/'87, and I went to see it under construction at the factory , and just like a boat being built I made stage payments .It must have been in the Summer , and we were on our way to France for our holiday, we called in and were told that when we came back in two weeks the car would be finished , and ready for collection. At that stage I had paid £7k, so I gave him another £7k , and the remainder was to be paid on completion.
When we came back from France a fortnight later the Receivers were in the business.........not a problem thinks I , I have receipts , and the car is in the workshop...........Anyway I got my lawyer on the case , and to cut along and painfull story short.............Nigel Gravett and a couple of his employees had been showing me and another guy the same car and taking money off both of us.............There was a lot more two-ing and fro-ing after that , I tried to get the police interested to no avail, then I thought that I'd go after his personal assets.........but he'd even fiddled the Banks, and taken two mortgages out on his bungalow, by slightly changing the address so it didn't show up on any mortgage searches the second bank did! so he had no assets........
The other guy "owner" of the car , which still unfinished paid me to go away , but only a few thousand pounds...........I'd had enough by then so I took the money.

I went on to buy a Morgan +8 which I developed and raced here in the UK and in Europe with some success.

If I could meet Nigel Gravett now ????? well he is still around the UK , as is a director of something to do with mobile phones/air time , in the east of England..........so check before you buy a phone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!
