Pilgrim sun visors (and service)

has anyone else had problems with these?
the ones I've just recieved are neither square nor sun visors!!
They seem to be _roughly_ hewn from a bit of perspex and to say it's smoked is an exhageration to say the least!!
On ringing pilgrim to explain the problem I expected them to say like most of the other professional people I've dealt with to say sorry we'll try and sort it out. Instead they seemed not bothered that they provided a sub-standard product and just send them back, and would they refund the postage - not a chance!! Anyway I then got put onto Mr Tanner who told me he'd sold thousands of cars and no-one else had complained about sun visors, so I could do what I liked with them - send them back and If he was good enough to agree with me I'd get a refund - thanks, he really didn't seem too bothered that I'd post a message about this or even ring trading standards!!
This is the first time I've had dealings with Mr Tanner and to say the least I understand why others may have problems with pilgrim - until this time I was of the opinion that Pilgrim were a quality outfit now I'm not so sure.
Perhaps I'm just not used to this type of customer service, normally being used to the excellent service from AK - I'm just glad I bought the car from AK not pilgrim.
First and last time I buy anything from them.

Stuart.

(disclaimer - please note this represents my personal point of view only - maybe Pilgrim (or their supplier) were having a bad day!)

PS - I'm not remotely connected to Which-Kit!!

Hi Stuart

Sorry to hear about your problems with the sunvisors.

I purchased mine from Dave Shrubsole of AutoBrass (phone number in the club mag) all the fixtures and fittings are nicely finished off. The visors themselves are coloured perspex with a vairety of colours available.

You could try to purchase from Dave.

RE: Pilgrim sun visors (and service)

.. I might try brasscraft as this is apparently where AK get them from though my screen was from Autobrass and that's pretty good too - not quite sure why I didn't go there first time round!!
Anyway shame about the sun visors as I also got a duck hood from pilgrim at the same time which I have been working on this evening - it seems very good and didn't cost all that much (relatively speaking )either.

How much did you pay for the duck hood?

I'm surprised on your comments about Pilgrim. I have sent quite a lot of stuff back without a problem. And there are sometimes a few little surpises, like free chrome wheel nuts, odd extra bracket in case you mess up, included in the parcel - swings and roundabouts.

So I'll agree that their quality control leaves a bit to be desired - but thats why you pay less - and they are THE cheapest place for Halibrands.

But when they mess up I've had no problems with refunds or credit notes e.g. I sent back Halibrands, spinners, cobra bonnet badge, and a few other odds'n'sods over the last few years without a problem. Penny, the girl in charge of orders is usually very helpful, got all my 'iffy' stuff replaced to my satisfaction and she usually credits me my postage. If you have problems then speak to Tony Holmes - he's a genuine kit car enthusiast, and he's the guy in charge of their workshops. Den does have his bad days sometimes.

RE: Pilgrim sun visors (and service)

hood was 430 inc VAT - that was for the duck canvas hood, (zip-in) sidscreens, frame, fittings etc...
I've now got it fitted - needs a few modifications, as it doesn't quite fit right - I guess this is due to the slightly different roll bar(s) and windscreen position and slightly different shape of my AK but apart from the sidscreens which I'll, need to do a small fix on as the're a bit too short it's not too bad. I only want it for emergency use anyway (ie it doesn't stop raining for a few weeks and I can't take it any more ) so the 1300 for the AK one (and tonneau) was a bit steep for me (though it is a very nice made one and does include fitting) since I think most softops - including this one - look a bit odd on cobras anyway.
I was quite suprised too about pilgrim (Den's) attitude since the guy I spoke to about the hood in the first place and whether it would fit was very helpful, anyway I shall hopefully find someone on a pilgrim stand - hopefully Den Tanner - (are there manf. stands there?) to explain why I was so %*!!"d off with the sun-visors at the national cobra meet - that'll save me having to try and get any postage refunded (I would be ashamed to have them on my car - and can't believe anyone could have the nerve to charge 50 quid for them)

Recommend you speak to Tony or Penny before Sunday, and tell them you want to exchange or refund at Duxford. If forewarned, they're usually happy to sort you out at a show.

RE: Pilgrim sun visors (and service)

I've also had good responses from Pilgrim.
They have exchanged parts [even if I caused the problem]
They cover post costs as well.
Important that you speak to Tony Holmes or Penny
