Lack Of Manufacturers

Looks like the manufacturers don't want to talk to us and let us know the latest. It surprises me really, its free advertising for them.

RE: Lack Of Manufacturers

Robert,

Have you spoke to them, maybe an email ad to the various manufacturers.

Also I heard (not yet read) in an issue of Auto Express recently that Ford Motor Co. may get involved with owning the rights to the Cobra name and we may have to watch how we interpret a Cobra replica and maybe badging? I will email the article to you if you dont already know (when I get my Hands on the issue).

I have spoken to them a number of times, on the phone, via email, and at shows. They really don't seem to be bothered, with the exception of GD, but that is probably coz I speak to Andy quite often, trying to get a discount on a Lola, but no joy as yet.

I have seen the article you have mentioned, and it is primarily being considered in the states, however as long as you don't call your car a Cobra, and market it that way then you should be ok. it is only the name that is copywritten as the shape is public domain after 15 years.

Just reading your article on other posting on Ford/Ac (v.good) You would have thought Shelby would retire and enjoy fishing or something, instead of fighting all the time, shame!

What's a Lola again, was this an early replica or a production vehicle, I have heard of it but cannot picture it.

RE: Lack Of Manufacturers

Now wouldn't that be fun. Do you think the club would sponsor me????

This is all dependant on me persuading the wife that having 2 two seater sportscars is a good idea, bearing in mind we have one 16 month old, and another due at the end of this month.

She is being a bit difficult at the moment about it, and keeps asking why I need both.

Too True, I give her all the right appliances, dishwasher, washing machine, etc and she still complains.

RE: Lack Of Manufacturers

You guys are going about this all the wrong way. What I did was to feign a "Mid-life Crisis". After three months of going around muttering "What's the point of all this?" "Whats the point of working so hard?" and similar things, and also eventually hinting that I was thinking about an affair with a much younger woman, my wife positively insisted that I place the order for the Crendon. Who was I to refuse?

Of course, you do have to be "of a certain age" for this to work.
