| Gardner Douglas Do The Business Again... Champions of 1996 and 1997 Gardner Douglas Sports Cars are celebrating their return to racing by taking the Class ‘A’ honours in 2001. September the 22nd at Oulton Park saw the penultimate round of the Retro Sports & GT Challenge where Nick Taylor, in the awesome GD427, led from another pole start to finish overall winner and clinch the series.
When asked if racing generates sales, company boss Andy Burrows said “our racing involvement is primarily out of interest, not a conscious marketing decision, however over the years we have noticed the benefits as I am sure any mainstream manufacturer does. Racing, especially successful racing, breeds confidence in the mark and I am sure if you asked all GD owners they would tell you they are far happier knowing the car they drive has been pushed to the limits. All GD 427s’ sold to date have been road cars, drive any and you would agree they are light years from the harsh world of racing, but they all share the same race proven chassis base”.

My Son had a toy steering wheel which he used to spin furiously, making loads of go-faster noises, leaning into all the tight corners, perhaps running the government feels a bit like that. You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere. |
