Hi Kelvin,
Stainless all well and good but soooo! heavy.

I've done a route or two in the past.

Best tip is to assume that you'll never maintain a convoy no matter how hard you try.

So issue clear instructions / maps, start, finish and meeting points for reassembly. I used rally style tulip diagrams last time it worked well I think.

Do the route youself in advance a time or two and make notes of roadsigns, cameras, places of interest etc.

It's not rocket science but takes a little effort.

cheers
Kevin

I'm quite surprised how many owners there are in South and West Wales and we don't have a centre. Tenby, Swansea, Gower, Carmarthen, Llandysul, Cowbridge, Newgale, Cardiff, Blackwood, Caerphilly, Lampeter. We have some of the best Cobra roads in the country, Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, Cardigan coastal road, perhaps we could have a roving centre as we are quite well spaced out (we won't go into that now!!!). I'd love to see a Cobra convoy rattling the windows of some of the small villages arond here!.

Peter.

Hi Peter, I think a mobile meeting point is the only way forward as you say due the us all being spread over a wide area.
Last time I went up over Herwain Pass to Brecon I collided with a sheep on the way back, the cars still in the bodyshop.
It's a lovely run though, sadly for me most runs require a run up or down the M4, before I get to the the "proper" roads.

Hi Peter,
Would love to join you all to rattle some windows , but i'd have to leave it to you guys to do the rattling as i don't think my pile of parts in the garage would rattle any windows at present unless i threw them at the windows & that would mean more delays to my cobra build.
perhaps i could play the support role in one of my tin tops.
Paul

OK Guys,

I've been having a think about planning a trip for next year around the roads of Mid & West Wales, as it's the 1st trip I've ever organised like this I'll willingly take advice off others, one thing I will do is probably limit the numbers just to make it manageable but as a route I was thinking of is as the photo attached, I'll looked forward to any comments.

I'd be quite quite happy to organise a run too.

In fact I already have one prepared that I've used before.

It starts near Cowbridge and ends at Tintern Abbey taking in some lovely roads. It's around 120 miles
Bit of a long trek home for you guys in the west but maybe I could vary it a little.

I've also got another one which starts and finishes near Hay on Wye.

Roll on the spring.

If the Hay on Wye one ever runs again I'd be up for that. Roll on spring and my SVA!

Hi Peter (Taurus),

Yeah I agree with you, there seems to be loads of Cobra owners around Wales they seem to be popping up from everywhere I never new there was so many, I think it would be a very good idea to have a rolling meet where we have a meeting at different area each time & run it as a sub region of the main Cobra club, why should the North & East of the country have all the fun, how something like that can get started I don't know, I believe Kev has tried to get something similar going before, if we can get enough members talking about it perhaps it will happen this time, then who knows where it will lead to perhaps even a kit car show for Wales

Hi All
I Look forward to a meetup in the spring.
there are a few small car shows that take place in various locations.
Scolton Manor, classic car show, I know one of the members of a local club, could get us some tickets & we could have our own little section!!
I also know the guy who organised the modified car show at Pembrey this year, it was a great success, (mostly scoobies) but I was invited & a great deal of interest was shown, maybe we could tag onto that one. when it next comes up. Most show organisers like to see extra groups within the shows, it give mr & mrs public a bit more to gawp at.
