A25 nr Westerham SILVER/GREY

Grey or silver cobra with darker stripes possibly dark green. Traveling away from Westerham at about 3:00 this afternoon on the A25.
If you had been to the Grasshopper for the South East Region meet you must have got there a bit too late.
We meet at 12:00 midday and today we stayed there for over two hours and then cruised to the Woodman to meet up with the Lotus club and the TVR club.
Whoever you are if you had intended to come to our meet it would have been nice to see you and your car. Please come and see us again. If you had not intended to come to our meet why don't you drop in we would like to see you.
We had a good turnout again and had a great afternoon.
I passed you going the other way but unfortunately the traffic and road didn't allow me to turn around and catch up with you.
Hope to see you soon.

Re: A25 nr Westerham SILVER/GREY

I saw this car at about 5pm on the A28 going to Ashford. It went coastbound down the M20 just as the rain was starting. looked like a Sumo and sounded like a four or possibly a six cylinder jobbie. It was being driven with great enthusiasm and looked very solid on the road,

Re: A25 nr Westerham SILVER/GREY

Sounds like the same car my wife spotted broken down by Wealden Hall, Larkfield, on the A20 at 12.30 today.
My appologies to the driver for my wife not stopping (quite out of character for her, I must admit). Women........nothing gets in the way of thier shopping, eh!!!!
Shame he missed the meet. I hope whatever the problem was, that it's all sorted now and hope it doesn't put him off coming to the next meet.

Right, must go now........got to give the wife a good beating!!!!!!!!

Re: A25 nr Westerham SILVER/GREY

It was me. Maiden voyage, set off from Folkestone in plenty of time to get to Westerham only to stall (Bloody hell how embarassing!) at traffic lights on A20 at Larkfield. The reason for the stall (I now know) was that the timing had been set slightly out a couple of days before.

Much worse was the fact that this is the exact time to discover that the starter motor ( an old and trusted unit which had shown no signs of delinquency before) was now refusing to live up to its name. Eventually some kind pedestrians did assist and the car was bump started only to stall as it was going into the nearby petrol station. Much time was lost before I was on my way again tomeet up with every slow or stationary piece of traffic on the way to Westerham.

I did get there some time after 2.30 and was given a warm welcome by the Vauxhall boys (who assured me they had scared you all off with their underbonnet bling).

After viewing a nice TVR (and a not so nice Aston Martin) I decided to be on my way. Car started ok but I went the wrong way opn the M25 (blame it on my concentrating too hard on not stalling) so I decided on the scenic route via the A22.

Broke down a few more times but managed to get going again (notably witht he assistance of a very friendly octagenarian ex-fireman who, despite being partially sighted, insisted on helping to push my car uphill so that I copuld bump it down the slope.

I was indeed later on the A28 near Ashford where the rains did indeed empty themselves onto my head and into my car (not for the first time that day). Eventually home just before dark, soaked through and having, yet again, to remove as much carpet as possible to try and dry it out.

So this is what I've been struggling all this time to achieve - life in an open top sports car! Roll on Stoneleigh!

Robin sorry to hear of your woes, I trust it hasnt put you off attempting the grasshopper run again, perhaps next month you can team up with Gareth as hes only in sittingbourne, safety in numbers etc.

Robin

Looks like everyone is making their own way at the moment.
I want to get there early so I'm leaving my house (grove park) about 7 to 7.30 ish.
Through the tube, up the M11, round the London car park and up the M1 seems good for me.
Thats what the sat-nav says anyway.

Don't know what the others are doing.

Re: A25 nr Westerham SILVER/GREY

Chris I will be going the same way as you albeit a little later leaving about 8am, also I'll be in the tin top as cob on axle stands at the moment, problem with gearbox cross member:angry: , so I will make sure the tool box, tow rope, and a can of fuel is in the boot:finger: . Hope I only see you at Stonleigh, but youve got my number if you run into trouble.
