Brighton was great.

Watching Probably the UKs finest cobra engineers Ratboy (7 Indulgence) and Cheng Lim (Thunder road cars) going head to head.

SOME FINE COBS AND GT40's ALL GIVING IT SOME STICK.

As well as just about every other make, model and colour of sports car you could name old and new.

You didn't miss much, or so I hear. The DB Replicas:thumb: badged and built GDT70 (around 500BHP per ton) came second in class to the Allard and beating both the above two.(Mid engine does help though)
The amazing EXTRACK Puma that was bezerk last year has been replaced by a Pug that wasn't breaking any new records this year.

Kind of wish I'd gone now.

Re: Busy Two Days

I am now privvie to the result of the clash of the titans.

Dave that Allard is really somethin' else innit.
I am consantly amazed how that old orange monster turns out year after year and thunders most opposition into the ground, an absolute pleasure to watch.

Re: Busy Two Days

Hi Dave,
I'm gutted that I couldn't get over to the speed trails to meet up, especially if Cheng Lim was racing as well (those ram cobras stand the test of time and track). Domestic duties got in my way, or was it for an easier life at home?!

Yes Chris that was me in the Southover/Lewes area on Saturday, although I thought my car was blue, close to an Air Force colour. Whatever, at least I got out for a while, even if it was to take my six year old daughter to the shops!! :drive:

Maybe next year!

Have fun

Ian

Re: Busy Two Days

I just love the speed trials - awesome mix of cars and competitors of all ages and from all walks of life - you know there are cars there that have been raced along the sea front by 4 generations!
Jim Tiller in the Allard is a total legend and I'd go there just to watch him wrestle with that orange beast. Cheng is also a long time hero of mine and to be part of such a special event where these guys are competing gives me a real buzz.
All in all a great day and it was good to see some of our boys and girls there (thanks for the juice Dave).
Can't wait for next years event!

I was talking to Jim Tiller a couple of years ago and I think he was clocked at 199.7mph on the salt flats with the wheels still spinning! He also spun the car more than a few times at 180mph!!!! If you ever get the chance, ask him about it - he had me in stitches.
