Silver Cobra in Edinburgh

I saw a Silver Cobra with black stripes and a green hood parked just off George Street in Edinburgh yesterday. I didn't have much time to stop and look but I think it was a Dax.

Does it belong to anyone on here?

John

Hi John,
Do you stay in or around Edinburgh?

I was te same clive......but at the same time i was rather annoyed with myself for not seeing it as i work in Edinburgh on Queen St. ( for those of you that don't know Edinburgh it is the next street down from George Street).

We definately need to get more enthusiasm for the Cob up here.....IMO the weather putrs people off having a car like that.:boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:

I reckon the reason is that the kit car industry is too centred around the South East of England and are not willing to travel any further north than Stoneleigh. There used to be an annual kit car show at Ingliston but it died because manufacturers were not prepared to travel there as it was too expensive. They expect us to travel down to them at our expense, but not the other way round!
Also most of the track days, club events etc. are centred around Brands Hatch and the SE. My car insurance restricts me to 3,000 miles a year so I would "use up" a third of my mileage just getting there and back, not to mention how much it would cost in fuel!
Anyway we still have the quietest and best driving roads in the UK and it is no colder than the SE. We have also had considerably less rain than they have had this year!:drive:

I agree Clive, the further north you go , the less cobras you see. Everything does seem to be geared to the south but that has always been the fact. People do exsist passed Watford Gap. Having said that we have had two good events at Elvington Near York. Don`t think that will happen again apart from Ricky`s track weekend that he is trying to put together.

Re: Silver Cobra in Edinburgh

Sorry. But the only reason that there appear to be more events in the SE is because we get off our butts and organise them. All of these are "Regional Events" other than the National 2006 at Brands which was only held there because knowone else bothered to put forward an alternative. I can see that it obviously wasn't viable to travel down from the north, but if you guys don't organise things up there, Don't blame us.

Chris, This is a "Catch 22" situation. My remarks were directed mainly to the manufacturers and not individuals. As there are only a few Cobra owners and club members in the whole of Scotland (Mostly still building) it would not be feasable to organise a track day as we could not guarantee numbers and manufacturers are not willing to travel north to give demonstrations.
