Huge grin in Leics

Seen, for the 1st time ever in the dry, was a huge grin driving a metallic blue Sumo down some Leicestershire country road -yup that was tony m bombing by still trying to get his carpets to dry out after the last East Midlands meet. I gather he's now fitted bath plugs in the footwells as a temporary measure before his roof is finished -I admire the dedication of the man! Still, the weather's promised to be good for our Rutland jaunt this weekend -shame I can't make it Have a good'un.

Cheers
Richard

Hi Tony,

Just incase you didn't see the date, it was a while ago you were 'spotted'. Can't say that I haven't heard you roaring by a few times though, or at least it sounded like your motor. What are you up to then with this embarrassing power problem?

Re: Huge grin in Leics

Yes i spotted the date but i don't normally look at the "spotted" section, i only saw it whilst looking around the new forum pages. the power is up a fair bit now that i've adjusted the accelerator cable to fully open the carbs, the last tuner altered it so they only opened half way!!!

Just got towed back from county hall leicester after splitting the sump and losing all my oil, luckily i realise and stopped the cobra before any damage was done.

Re: Huge grin in Leics

Oh no! Touch of deja vue -sickening sound when you hit something really hard isn't it. I'd thought of making some form of sump guard, but never quite got round to it. Scary though when you look under a RV8 block GD -lovelly crafted flat floor & a soft tin sump just protruding down waiting to be bashed.
Glad to hear of your performance mod -got to be the cheapest one in the world!!

Re: Huge grin in Leics

Hi Tony, sorry to hear about your sump. But it could have been worse...

A couple of years ago at the OGP Meeting at the Nurburgring a CRC member from the Southern region was unfortuante to catch his sump plug while leaving the underground car park at his hotel close by. He then drove to the track and went onto the old Nordschleife race circuit. Part way round the plug had vibrated lose enough to drop out, he lost the oil on the track and stopped immediately his low pressure light came on. Unfortnuately two motorcyclists found his oil before they could stop the track...with only minor injuries. He had the pleasure of a costly tow off the track and a fine from the local magistrate t contend with. Fortunately we found a replacement sumpl plug in teh tool kit of one of the cars that was attending the OGP meeting.
