Re: Why Never

Jeff,
Thames Valley meet up on the third Sunday of each month at the Fox & Horn, Stratfield Mortimer around noon - full details are in Snake Torque.
Although Eric used to do the organising and reports for ST, that has not been the case for some time.

Re: Why Never

Hi Steve,

I did turn up there during the summer but there was no one there and as there is never any info about the meet on the forum I presumed that nothing ever happens in the thames area.

Re: Why Never

Hello Jeff, the official meet for the Thames Valley is The Fox & Horn 3rd Sunday of each month as advertised in Snake Torque. It's just off Junction 11 M4-A33 Stratfield Mortimer, directions & details on Rogers site attached. www.thefoxandhorn.co.uk

Numbers have tailed off lately however for many reasons which I wont go into here. Did not go to the last one myself but I believe about 6 turned out with or without Cobra's.

Hayes Middx I know it well, the place of my birth, sociology there not quite the same as it was when you and I was brought up in the fifties I am given to understand Regards Osgood. :thumb:

Re: Why Never

I'd be interested in that...do you know is there a friendly MOT centre near the pub open on a Sunday? I could book the car in for a test then drive it over to the meet legally. I'd need to put some seats and a fuel tank in first though

Re: Why Never

Now that’s a good idea Graham, I have 1 and 1 half finished seats sure we can sort out, will this MOT station be upset that I do not have any baffles what so ever in the side pipes.

I have had a PM from another member who lives in hayes and we are going to have a meet up in a local pub yet to be decided I will be in touch as soon as I know

Eric, many thanks for your PM and reply to this thread, I am sure none of us want to start up a separate group for this area, it was just that I had the impression that nothing ever really happed with thames vally region compared to other regions.

I fully understand your reasons for not doing all the work on your own, if you do not get any help it’s a bummer, been there and have the t shirt my self.

I am sure we would all like to see you back and doing your bit again, I am sure some of us newer guys will be ready to give any help needed.

With reference to luvly Hayes yes what can I say, I moved away to scotland over 30 years ago and when we came back it had changed some what, that was 15 years ago and its getting worse.
I am a big lad who had his fair share of scraps as youngter but I will not walk through hayes town on my own any more at night

Jeff

jesus that got to be a 10 x bigger post than I have ever done before

Hello all, for the benefit of all in the Thames Valley area & surrounding locations and of course Jeff in Hayes I have been asked to post up and explain what is going on re Thames Valley meets for this year.

It is with some regrets and sadness to hear that Roger Bailey of The Fox & Horn Stratfield Mortimer Berk's has had a serious stroke. Having received a very nice email from his wife Treva it is apparent that he wont recover from his condition in the immediate future. After a family discussion with various specialist's they have decided to close the Tavern/Restaurant on a permanent basis and put it on the market for sale, Rogers Crendon is being taken over by his son so it remains in the family.

Appreciating these difficult times re the Brewery trade some regulars at the Thames Valley Meet feel its time to move on and find another watering hole location, perhaps more central to some of you (Middx, Berk's, Bucks, Surrey). Tony Goff is currently looking at the Bracknell area, he has also found a Bar/Night Club which is open Sunday lunch times which is on the A30 around the Camberley/Bagshott area I believe its called PANPILES (sounds like an infection of the annal regions !)

If anyone has some other suggestions for a meet location for the Thames Valley lets hear them please. The venue described above has a very large car park I am given to understand and would be relatively quiet on a Sunday we think being primarily a Night Club and of course is on a major road with good access from M40/M4/M25. We have just got to get the okay from the manager W.H.Y.

Regards Osgood
