Right folks - here's the current situation.
The following people are registered, and should have received passes:
Me
* Dale Melrose
* Graham Chedzoy
* Martyn Powell
* Eric Rayner
* Nick Payne
Peter Sawyer
and I also have passes for:
Steve Nellies
Peter Bowden
Those marked * - your pass will say Class 12, but you've been changed to Class 8, and you'll be directed to the Cobra Club stand.
Steve Cooper - the organiser threw a bit of a wobbly at the last minute and wasn't prepared to send any more passes out. No problem though, as you can register on the day - as can anyone else who decides to attend at the last minute!
There's been a bit of confusion as to where the show is, and whether it's still on. It is, and the confusion is probably becuase there's the big Reading Festival next weekend. And that presents a challenge - can we create more noise from the CRC stand than from the centre stage at next week's rock concert?
The showground (aka field) is a few miles down the A33 from J11 of the M4, just after the BP garage on your left. The gates open at 09:00, and all vehicles are supposed to be in position by 11:00. So I suggest we aim to arrive around 10:30. There's a (closed down) Happy Eater-type place next to the aforementioned BP garage. It looks as though the car park is still accessible, so this could be a good assembly point prior to entering the show. Steve/Peter B - I suggest you meet me there and I can then give you your passes.
Now for the bad news. The weather ain't looking good - so I'll be doing my "head out of the front door" test tomorrow morning and deciding on Cob or tin-top. The other thing is that I paid a visit to the venue on the way home from work last night. The field itself looked fine, but the entrance has obviously been very badly churned up and rutted from the previous deluges. They've covered over it, but with wood shavings rather than stone/ballast - wtf? I could feel my Galaxy sinking as I drove through it, so I suspect the organisers will need to provide an alternative entrance for our Cobs!
Anyway, if the weather's OK and everyone turns up, we'll have ten Cobs on the stand. See you there!
