Fuel pump location.

Well I got the beast running with temporary fuel system (pump hanging by rubber hose with feed and return plonked in a jerry can!!)

Time to think about permanent install of the pump, but...

Where is the best place to mount the pump and filter in the viper chassis??

Within or under the boot??
thought about below the centre of the boot floor enclosed withina protective cover but this will place it right between the inner silencers, but should be alright with a bit of heat shielding from the pipes..

Any thoughts??

Cheers

Re: Fuel pump location.

Got mine mounted on the side of the gearbox, no noise in the boot or anywhere else, complete silence. :thumb:

Thanks Steamy for starting off the auction, bought time you bid again. :thumb: :thumb:

Re: Fuel pump location.

Dean.

You need to mount the pump Under and as Close to the tank as possible. Efi pumps dont have a lot of suction on the imput side and need to be constantly "immersed" in fuel. :thumb:

Hi

I was going to fit mine at the rear of the transmission tunnel using the original Vitesse fuel pump housing which is padded. I was going to fit an inline tap between the pump and the tank, located behind the seats with an access hatch in the glass panel.

I'm now having a swirl pot fitted in the fuel tank with an integral pump.

Do you have a swirl pot in your tank, because if you have fuel injection it is recommended.

Hope this is helpful.

Re: Fuel pump location.

I don't think the tank I have has a swirl pot within.

However i have been thinking about options and have decided that since the tank has never had petrol in it there are a few(?) mods about to be done.

So I think the pump below the tank, protected by some cover, and a modified tank it is then.

Cheers y'all

Dean.
