Why thank you Kev.

I have got the majority of the mechanics sorted.
Rover v8 in the ford v6 chassis.

Rover engine & Gearbox, cortina front & Rear. Allegedly (someone please tell me if it is so?) the rear axle is also used in some light goods vehicles so is not too bad torque rating wise. (But not as good as others!)

Fitting the V8 & box is a bit of a pain even with the body off. Would not like to do the mods with the body on although it could be done.

You need to be very handy with the grinder, welder and plasters, and have a very lateral thinking approach to anything/everything........ wish i was!!!!!

They are a big challenge as there are no manuals, kit, parts or support other than what's on here. I think the biggest challenge on a retro fit would be the exhaust system though..

The best bit of advice is keep an open mind and do not be scared to ask questions.

Good luck which ever way you go

Cheers

Re: cobretti viper

Depending on what engine you replace it with there could be quite some expence to change an engine. Exhausts if side pipes £1500 under slung half that. Prop shaft £150 poss new springs and shocks on the front £150 gear box and engine unto £5000, new radiator £150 then all the bits and pieces £200. You will have to put new engine mounts on the chassis for the engine and gearbox and as previously mentioned check that the brakes are up to it.

One possible way around it would be to get an RV8 like the one in the classifieds which will be a running turnkey motor, this is a RV8 with fuel injection .

A lot of effort and to be honest you are looking into the realms of building one your self for this sort of money and all the work which would be required. IMHO

Really only you can answer that!
Add the cost of the car together with the price of a new engine/gearbox and all the other parts needed to convert it {and think of every part that is needed because it will add up} and think about your time to do the work.

Then compare the total price to what you can buy in Belgium for the same money, and see if you can get a car with the engine in that you want for the same price.
