A new member..

..Hi folks.

Delighted to discover this forum. So many familiar stories!!!

I bought a Viper chassis from Ken in Bournemouth - one of his last. I decided to split the order and take the body later, but he'd gone by then. After a longish trail I ended up with a guy whose name I forget in the Midlands, who made a body that was so bad, he had to make me another one. Having to do a lot of re-profiling.

The doors are so bad I am actually having to split them, and re-bond with a slight twist to get them to fit at all.

Mines Jag based, with a Rover V8 and 5 speed box, and seem to be having to solve all the same problems as you guys on the mechanicals! Like getting it all in!!

It is frustrating at times, but I have to say the satisfaction is huge when it come right and something fits! To hell with bubble-packed, do-it-by-numbers kits. We're the real engineers, right?

You've come to right place, there are several people here who are in a similar position to yourself or further advanced, so you can be sure that any problems you encounter have been found by someone already and solved.

Welcome on board and good luck.

Re: A new member..

Welcome!!

I guess theres a story here for everyone, if you possibly can afford it, buy the whole lot in one go, Davids tale is a nightmare scenario!

Before everyone says 'it wont happen to (insert kit manufacturer)' its happened so many times to so many companies nobody can guarantee it wont happen again; plus what about the one/two man operations out there, the smallest problem family/health/fire at premises could leave any builder with a chassis and no body.

Glad to hear youre getting it sorted Dave, as hfbradley says, there are a number of Viper builders on here who are going through similar pains, hopefully be able to help you.

Re: A new member..

Well, Many thanks to all of you for such a warm welcome.

Although I live in Kent (Sheppey, actually) and that is where the car is, I spend 5 days a week on Worthing, staying away for work.

I see there is something of a Sussex contingent - is there a local pub meet or whatever that I could blag an invite too? I might even buy a round

I'll upload a pic soon, so you can see how far I'm not!

Cheers,

David

Gareth08 is in Sittingbourne and he can't refuse a pint. He'll be on his way to Le mans for the next couple of days.
