Lasted build pics

Hi All,

Been a bit quiet recently so thought I'd give you the latest.

The wiring loom is in and finished (except reversing light and fog light). I've changed the rear Jag suspension to remove the infamous Radius Arms and also gone down to one shock at the rear (it's sitting quite nice now, and that was without any help from Ken "Super Knob" Cook). The boot is just about ready to carpet and the only thing left to do under the bonnet (just about) is to pipe up the water heater for the demister. All I need to do is fit the exhausts, trim the cockpit along with a few other odds and ends and it's off to the SVA for me!

I've attached some pics of the latest state. The paintwork and body is still pretty crap but I've accepted that now. It looks great from a distance but you'll certainly notice the problems when looking up close.

Cheers...

Hi Iain.
The Cob is looking good. Yes you may have some body shape problems but have a good look at some of the other Cobs about. If my Dax looked as good as your car I would be over the moon. Keep up the good work mate. Anyway, who's going to see it that close when you go blatting past them!!!

Are your stripes paint or stuck on?

Looking good Iain

Just out of interest are the Lucus Tripod headlights correctly marked for the SVA test?

I assume you know you don't need a reversing light for the SVA.

Craig.

Hi All,

The stripes are painted on. BMW Williams Pearl White

I know I don't need a reversing light for SVA but I do need a fog light. I thought I'd try and make it as symmetrical as I can so I will be making a bracket for both sides of the car where the quicklifts will go. The fog & reversing light along with the reflectors will mount on that for the time being.

I'm not sure what the state of play is with regards to the P700 replica lights. Is there anyone out there able to shed more information on whether they pass the SVA. If they don't..... can anyone lend me their lights?

Cheers...

Hi Iain
It's really shaping up well now!!
It makes me kind of confused looking at it...happy-sad!! I've got one of those in my garage but I've got soo far to go to get it to where yours is now!!
The ride height looks sweet. Well done sorting that out. I hope the rest of it all falls neatly into place!!
Looking forward to the next installment...
Cheers

Hey Iain

Looking good.
Don't put your hard work down. They are a handful and you have done very well.
Just look at mine - That'll cheer you up.

Ride height looks good. Testiment to your work and inginuity.

Just that final push and to the SVA. Bet you can't wait.

Looking good Iain, how are you going to tackle the carpetting? I took the advice given here and used cardboard (well thick wall paper lining paper) and measured lots of times before cutting into carpet.
I am doing car first and boot afterwards.
I realy like your ride height, ours is still 'monster truck'.
When you hoping for SVA? We are going to nottingham, realy helpfull and friendly on the phone. The tester on the phone gave me some details on a GD but c ouldn't remember last time they did a Sumo. Rich people in Nottingham perhaps .
Keep it up, it will all be worth it one day.
Cheers
Kevin

With regards carpeting.... Just the same as you. Cockpit first and boot second. I'll be attempting to use either tiff paper or thin card to make the templates.

I finished off the bonnet surround and bonnet at the weekend. I wound up lining the inner of the bonnet with heat resistant cloth, not because I thought it needed it but more because it looked crap (thanks Mr painter). Actually came out quite well. If you look closely at the pic you'll notice that the red on the inside of the bonnet does not match the colour of the car. That's what happens when you don't use lacquer...

Cheers...
