| Mating exhaust and down pipes Hi all I'm looking into how to mate my side exit exhausts to the RV8's down-pipes, and as space is very (very) limited on the Viper I was thinking of using the following Stainless Steel flexi-pipe: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...3020&rd=1&rd=1 has anyone else used this stuff? Is this a good way to go about this or am I going down the wrong road? At 60 pounds for 3 feet of the stuff I want to be sure! I have solid pipe and flexi joints but there is just no way I can fit them in so this is the only thing I can think of! Any help/wisdom/tales of woe etc gratefully accepted... CeeJay.

I'll not bother with the flexi tube then and persevere with the pipes that I have, the only problem is that fitting a flexi pipe in is going to be damn tricky - basically I have around 5 inches to play with, into which I have to fit two 90 degree bends and then the flexi pipe - still I like a challenge! I'll try and takes some pics to show the problem! CeeJay

| CeeJay I have some of this in 2" and it isn't that flexible... You would be hard pushed to get a decent tight bend in it anyway. I used it at the rear where there is an offset to the silencers but was still a pain in there....

| Don't know if this is of any use but this is the sort of flexible pipe you should be looking at IMHO http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Exhaust-Flexib...QQcmdZViewItem

| Thanks for the replies guys - I'll avoid the flexi pipe as from your combined comments I dont think it'll work! Tinka the flexi joint you mention is the stuff that I have - I managed to get 2 short pieces of it (100mm length 55mm internal diameter) for a little over 20 quid. What I'm going to do is have the 90 degree pipes I have shortened (supplied by 'pipe_werx' - really great service - cant recommend highly enough) and then try to fit the flexi joint in. I think its going to be very tight and I may need to heat and adjust the manifold pipes and perhaps reduce the length of the exhaust collector(s) so that I can squeeze everything in. I just hope that 100mm of flexi joint is adequate for the amount of flexing that the RV8 will produce! Still on the day I can drive my car across the highlands all this hassle will be worth it! CeeJay.

| Just a thought but if you have a lot of movement in the engine you can always firm up the engine mounting system to reduce. The way AK mount their engines means they have virtually no movement, plus it is always a good idea to get the engine balanced although this might be a bit late now for that plus all the work which is required.
