    servo

    Hi to all
Does anyone know of the smallest brake servo in diameter I can use on my AK Gen1. Only because the one I am ment to use is the rover 25 only to find that I don't seem to have enough clearance from the exhaust to the servo. When fited is so close I think it will get to hot and cause problems for me. So I was wondering if there is something else I could use smaller in diameter from a different car or model

There must be something wrong with the exhausts or engine position. I’ve built countless AKs and never had a problem with the exhausts being too close or fouling the servo.

What engine and exhausts are you fitting. Is it ak supplied headers and sidepipes.

Do you have the headers on the correct side.

It's a 350 small block and made the headers myself

Ahh there may lay the problem. Is it not easier to remake the header to clear rather than re invent the wheel with the servo.

    Thanks for your advice
It's looking like that what sort of clearance would you recommend I should have from exhausts to servo ?

It’s usually around 30mm but the more the better. Reduce the angle on the sidepipe entering the body until the underside of the sidepipe collector has around 10mm to 15mm of clearance over the chassis rail, you should then be able to get the primaries into the collector lower down under the servo.

I have a gen 2, but principle is the same.
Goto www.russhowell.com and view the exhaust section for pictures.
They come in with approx 10mm clearance above frame, leaving lots of room for brake servo.
    Hope that helps a bit,
    Russ
